A brief introduction to scouting
Explorer Scout Unit members are aged between 14-18 years old. They often operate alongside a scout group (6-14 years old) and gain the majority of their members through the group. However, this doesn't mean you can't apply to be a member from outside the group or even from outside of scouting! At Eagles Explorers, half our members are from outside of the Scout Movement - we love to help young people discover the benefits of joining the Scout Movement. Scouting is constantly growing - click on the video to see Bear Grylls (yes - he is our Chief Scout!) talking about the growth in numbers. Eagles Explorer Scout Unit is based on Charterhouse Road in Godalming, Surrey, UK. We're a friendly (and generally pretty awesome) bunch of people with 14 young people and 2 leaders currently attending each week. We operate alongside the St Peter and Paul Scout Group, but also intake young people from the Godalming/Farncombe area. |

Make a difference
There are currently 400,000 Scouts in the United Kingdom, but there are also 33,000 young people on waiting lists. All our leaders are volunteers and if you'd like to help out and make a difference by becoming a leader, we will welcome your help. I'm sure the young people who will benefit from your help will appreciate what you are doing for them as well! Scouts definitely isn't just what people assume it is - we're more modern than just knot tying and singing around a campfire. Helping in Scouting is a rewarding and fun experience for anyone who wishes to give back to their local community, and there's always room for another volunteer!
